Hariyali is a Hindi Magazine published ITC division Hisar of Community Forestry
Project.This magazine is very well accepted by not only Forest Department but
general public of Haryana also. Articles in the magazine are contributed by
Foresters and common public alike. Most of the articles and poems are on the
topics of forestry, wildlife and Environment.

Medicinal Plants of Shiwaliks in Haryana The shiwalik of Himalayas have been the
source of a large number of valuable medicinal plants. At least 40 species o
medicinal plants have been reported to be extracted from the forests of Shiwalik
region, legally or illegally by number of herbal dealers. Even though Shiwalik
are considered as rich source of medicinal plants nobody has tried to document
the medicinal plants. Considering this fact the writer has tried his best to
compile all the data related to medicinal plants to make comprehensive book.
This book will serve the purpose of better identification of most of the
medicinal plants found in Shiwalik region.In his introduction author has briefed
about the Shiwalik hills climate of Shiwalik region, types of forests,
biodiversity of the region, and medicinal plant wealth of the Shiwaliks; major
threats and need of conservation of medicinal plants.Second chapter deals with
the species-wise description of medicinal plants. In this very good pictorial
representation of medicinal plants followed by its family, vernacular name,
trade name, habit, flowering and fruiting time, major uses, parts used, value
addition and major chemical constituents.The remaining chapters of the book
having Glossary of medicinal plants, bibliography and species wise index.The
vast compilation of medicinal plants in this book will make it good reference
material for foresters, doctors, students, botanist and any one interested in
the field of medicinal plants in the region.

Cultivation techniques of medicinal plants suitable for commercial cultivation
in Haryana State.A book on cultivation techniques of medicinal plants suitable
for commercial cultivation in Haryana State has been published in Hindi by State
Medicinal Plants Board. This book is very informative and contains detailed
information about 20 species of medicinal plants suitable for cultivation in
Haryana. Besides, cultivation techniques it also provides sizeable directory of
buyers and suppliers of medicinal produce. It also gives vital information on
leading drug manufactures and website relevant to medicinal plants. This book
also illustrates estimated income and expenditure for important medicinal plant
species.

Bin Panni Sab Soon in an unique joint venture Forest Department Haryana and
National School of Drama, New Delhi conducted a 'play writing' workshop at
Forest Complex, Pinjore. During the workshop 5 plays were created by ametaure
play writers. There plays have been collected in a book entitled 'Bin Paani Sab
Soon'. All the five plays signify the water crisis. Five plays titled Aangan Ka
Ped, Bin Pani Sab Soon, Dariyan ka Pani, Pahad Par Jindagi and Khak Ho Jayega
are separated by beautiful paintings created during a workshop organized jointly
by Forest Department and Fine Arts department of Kurukshetra University. Front
and Back cover of the books is also decorated with two of these paintings.

Forest News
This is bimonthly magazine published by the Forest Department Haryana. In this
booklet an information related to the different on going activities of the
forest department, current project activities, case studies, interviews of
successful farmers, information on cultivation of medicinal plants and
agro-forestry activities will be published. In total, it gives over all view of
the Forest Department Haryana and its activities.
