Mini Zoo Bhiwani |
Mini Zoo Bhiwani is situated on City Railway Station Road & opposite Mini
Secretariat Bhiwani within the municipal limits of Bhiwani Town which is 2 Km.
away from Bhiwani Railway Station and 4 Km. away from Bhiwani Bus Stand. The Zoo
is well connected with by road and train (broad gauge line) with Delhi,
Chandigarh, Jaipur and other important cities. This Zoo was set up in 1982. The
foundation stone of the bird aviaries was laid by late Ch. Surender Singh, the
then Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture & Wildlife Preservation Department,
Haryana on 16.08.1982. Thereafter, the foundation stone of the Deer Park and
bear enclosure was laid on 3.10.1982 and 5.12.1983 respectively. |
The State Government had earlier decided to close down the zoo, however, with
the special efforts and keen interest of Mrs. Kiran Choudhry Hon’ble Minister
for Forests, Haryana the zoo was revived by Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi in
Sept. 2006. The foundation stone of renovation and expansion of Bhiwani Zoo was
laid on November 15, 2006 by Ch. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Hon’ble Chief Minister
of Haryana.

As per the provision laid down in the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 (amended),
it is mandatory to obtain permission for setting up zoo from Central Zoo
Authority, Govt. of India. Accordingly the permission was sought and the zoo was
accorded the status of Mini Zoo (small category zoo) on 14th August, 2008.

Mini Zoo Bhiwani lies between 28° 19’ to 29° 5’ N latitude and 75° 28’ E to 76°
28’ E longitude. It is established with a view to achieve Conservation education
and awareness generation among general people and develop a healthy relationship
between animals and human beings. The zoo has all facilities for visitors and
animals/birds in its captivity.
